Snippet From The Book

Snippet from A Prisoner's Perspective: The Redemption of a Criminal Mastermind:

Chapter 4

The Raid

The IRS agent’s hand rested on his gun under his jacket. His left hand was clenched in a fist. I looked at the fist, and he unclenched it. I decided against acting afraid. Instead, I would play the part of a tough guy.

“Trying to decide whether to shoot me or hit me?” I asked him.

His eyes narrowed and out of the corner of my eye, I could see his hand again clench into a fist. Slowly, I walked past him and back into the kitchen where the FBI agent sat calmly, waiting for us. His eyes glanced up to the IRS agent with the hand problem.

“You guys want some coffee?” I asked, trying to be nonchalant.

Again, the two agents looked at each other. Another difficult decision for them. Maybe they thought I had a gun in the cabinet. I didn’t, but they didn’t know that.

“We’re not here for coffee,” the FBI agent responded.

At that moment, there was a loud sound from upstairs.

I closed the cabinet door and sat down at the table. Leaning in, I asked once more, “Where’s my wife?”
